Walk-the Swap Shop

I thought my Sundays were my rest days and never really thought to log my walk around a Swap Shop as exercise. It is more fun than exercise!  Every Sunday for the past few years I manage to get my hubby to walk the outdoor area of our local swap shop.  We walk at a good pace and do it in about an hour or so.  Of course I buy stuff so it costs more money than running.   Just think of the extra weight I carry when I buy things, especially if it is concrete!  I get my strength training too!

Cardio Boxing after moving furniture

Yes I was busy last night and this morning moving furniture out of my house to my daughter’s house and thought I would miss this class.  “Young” people have no idea of the impact of time keeping. My daughter and hubby were suppose to come over at 7AM to start.   At 8:15Am I called and  they were just eating breakfast!!!  Have they not heard of brunch.  He got to my house at 9:00AM!!! 2 hours wasted.   We moved the furniture to the truck, went to the other house and unloaded then loaded up again and moved a bed back to our house. I made it to the gym just in time but I had to be next to the instructor right in the front!!!  After all the frustration I think I did quite a few “knock outs” with my gloves.

Roads were empty through my neighborhood so had a nice quiet 3 mile run.

ABS

First half hour was tough especially when we had to do sit ups with a 12 pound bar on our chest!  I gave up and put the bar on my feet to stop them lifting and used hand weights on my chest.  I still felt the workout.

The second hour was working abs but with the balance ball which was very effective in working your core and using your abs.  I know by Friday that I will feel the ache ( it takes 2 days for it to hit!)

Strength Training

Well the new instructor just got into his groove today and it was harder than ever. His first 3 classes must have just been experimental becasue this one he worked on sets that we have never done before.  I don’t mean to be vain but I can usually  keep up and even I had a hard time. He noticed so he knows that his workout is a challenge.  Thank goodness he gave us a 1 minute break half way through.  He promises that we will finish the hour without a break!! I laughed at him, what else is there to do?

Swim (with fins)

Just can’t see why I have to waste time getting to the other side so I swim with fins.  Still get a good workout and I am not frustrated.  Swimming is fun and enjoyable, why put myself through the “no fins” swim and dread going to the pool.  After the storm yesterday, the power was out and the pool was a lot cooler.  It took me 500 yards to get “warmed up.”

Run - 2 miles easy

My route takes me around the neighborhood and after yesterday’s storm I wondered how every one else faired.  I saw a lot of tree branches down and one large one about 12 inches thick broken off and landed on the roof!  We were lucky we had hailstones and saw our palm trees bend to about 45 degrees. No other damage.

5K- Forgot what that pace was like!

I have not run in a 5K since February and so my pace has changed because I was training for a half marathon and all the advice told me to add about 2 minutes onto my 5K pace. Well, I really liked that pace, I mean I really, really  liked that pace.  My first mile in this 5K was 8:30 which is the fastest pace I have done but I know it was only because I got all caught up in the start and to get out of the others runners way. I even wondered in that first mile ” why am I doing this?”

Last night I talked myself into getting under 26 minutes and planned out my pace to get that time.  Yes, 8:30 was a good pace time but after the first mile I added seconds on and stopped for a water station break at the 2 mile mark to soak my head (this is South Florida where we run at 7:00Am to beat the heat but the temperature was at least 70 degrees.)  My time would  have been OK if the finish line was at the 3 mile mark!!  Anyway I came in second in my age group so felt great about that, and my hubby was there too so that was nice. He only started coming to my races about 6 months ago-he thinks I’m crazy!  His exercise is picking up the TV remote.

Yes. I will do it again.  I know I will.  I want to get under that 26 minute mark and I am a very determined woman.   My next 5K will probably be in September when it gets cooler so I will have plenty of time to plan.

Cardio- Shadow Boxing

Great workout for the heart.  It was 3 “bouts” of 20 minutes with a 1 minute break and we needed that break. Lots of punches, jabs, undercut, and thighs.   Went through 64 ounces of water before , during and after so defintely a work out.

Body clock does not know about weekends-run 3 miles

My body clock does not know to sleep late on the weekends!  Got my hubby to drop me off 3 miles from home on his way to work.  You have to get home. There’s no  cutting short your route.  Nice morning run.
